An email I received in January, 2015…
I came across your website when I googled Rosalie Pulsford to see if anyone knew
her artwork. Rosalie Crossland Pulsford was my grandmother. She was Australian,
and lived from 1903-1978. I never met her, as her son (my father), John Matthews, emigrated to Canada in 1953, and our family never got around to visiting he, or she us.
I understand she painted and sketched a fair bit in the ’20s and ’30s and must have sold at least some works. I expect the sketch you have was done in the 1930’s, as Rosalie travelled to the UK a few times in that period when her husband Dr. George Pengwerne Matthews was studying there.
Let me know if you want any further information.
